This is a traveler assignment for a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I based in Redding, CA. The role is designed to support clinical laboratory operations by obtaining blood specimens from patients of all ages, from newborns to the geriatric population. Working under the supervision of the Laboratory Director, Manager, or Supervisor, the technician ensures accurate specimen collection and processing across multiple laboratory disciplines.
Your day involves performing skin punctures and venipunctures using proper technique and equipment. You will process specimens for microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, and blood bank disciplines, as well as prepare samples for referral to reference laboratories. The role also includes loading specimens onto automated instrumentation, managing data entry and filing, and handling telephone communications. Additionally, you will maintain the cleanliness of storage areas, trays, centrifuges, refrigerators, and freezers, while assisting with sample pickup and sorting tasks.
This position operates on a night shift schedule, running from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM on 12-hour shifts.
