The Clinical Simulation Specialist II serves as a technical expert and operational leader within the Center for Interprofessional Clinical Practice (CICP). In this campus-based position located in San Marcos, CA, you will bridge the gap between advanced simulation technology and educational delivery. You will set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide array of equipment, including hospital-type simulators, task trainers, virtual reality procedural trainers, and AV/IT systems.
Beyond technical maintenance, this role is deeply embedded in the educational mission. You will instruct simulation faculty and learners, assist in the development and delivery of simulation sessions, and help build simulation cases in EMS. The position requires a strong grasp of simulation educational principles to ensure that technology serves the learning environment effectively. You will also manage critical operational functions, including lab utilization scheduling, inventory purchasing, and the supervision of student workers and part-time contract staff.
This is a full-time, on-campus role requiring a presence on site five days per week. The position reports to the Sr. Manager of Simulation Education and Operations and may involve occasional travel to vendor sites or other USAHS campuses (up to 20%).
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but frequently involves active engagement in simulation labs. The role requires the ability to perform mechanical, electrical, and heavy lifting tasks, as well as the flexibility to adapt to experiments scheduled during evenings and weekends. We value a collaborative and caring nature, seeking individuals who can instill trust through honesty and integrity while driving results in a dynamic setting.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and possesses strong verbal and written communication skills. You will be expected to master proprietary software quickly and learn new technical systems with agility. Safety is paramount; you must understand and abide by proper lab procedures to maintain a safe learning environment for students and faculty.
