About the Role
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) is a vital resource within the Laboratory, working under the supervision of the Section Supervisor or Lead. This role contributes to the quality of patient diagnosis and treatment by performing technical and complex laboratory analysis across various sections, including Chemistry, Blood Bank, Hematology, Histology, Microbiology, Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, and Urinalysis.
In this position, you will not only perform tests but also serve as a key resource for other hospital staff, answering questions and solving technical problems for peers. You will be expected to recognize deviations from expected results, analyze issues, and modify procedures to eliminate technical challenges. Additionally, you may be asked to assume the responsibility of a Section Supervisor or Lead in their absence, overseeing personnel and technical operations.
Your day-to-day involves receiving and preparing patient specimens, performing instrument checks and preventative maintenance, and utilizing laboratory computers to manage data and print results. You will adhere to strict hospital safety standards and policies regarding guest relations, ensuring a safe and professional environment for all.
Hiring Process
Candidates must possess a Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or equivalent, along with a valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License/ASCP. At least one year of recent experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Trainee is required. Those with current BLS/Healthcare status as per American Heart Association standards are preferred.

Requirements
