The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is the first medical school in East Texas and the seventh in The University of Texas System. Our mission is to train future healthcare professionals to embrace responsibility for the unique needs of rural and hard-to-reach communities, particularly those in East Texas. We are a nationally recognized Bronchiectasis and Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM) Center and an integral member of the Bronchiectasis and NTM Care Center Network.
We are part of the UT Health East Texas system, a comprehensive network comprising nine hospitals, over 90 physician clinics, and a seven-trauma center care network serving a population of over 600,000. Our community-centered approach combines advanced research, hands-on learning, and partnerships with regional healthcare providers to cultivate a new generation of physicians prepared to improve healthcare outcomes.
Construction is currently underway on a five-story, 248,000-square-foot Medical Education Building in Tyler's Midtown District. Connected by a skybridge to UT Health Tyler, this facility will support interdisciplinary education for medical students and resident training, scheduled for completion in the fall of 2025.
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled physician with expertise in non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) to join our growing faculty. This position is ideally suited for a board-certified or board-eligible physician in Pulmonary Critical Care or Infectious Diseases with a strong clinical and/or research background in NTM diseases.
As the Clinical Director of the UT Tyler NTM Center for Innovation, you will lead and shape a multidisciplinary program focused on advancing the diagnosis, treatment, and scientific understanding of NTM infections. Your day will involve providing expert outpatient consultation for patients with NTM and bronchiectasis, collaborating with pulmonologists, infectious disease specialists, radiologists, and clinical microbiologists to ensure comprehensive care. You will also drive the development of specialized clinical programs, optimize diagnostic testing protocols, and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows. This role offers a unique opportunity to conduct translational research, present findings at national and international conferences, and engage with patient advocacy groups to address public health initiatives.
