The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is a unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs that encourages and supports teamwork and diversity. Our Medical Specialties unit (F6) operates with an inpatient capacity of 30 beds, utilizing a multidisciplinary approach that includes social workers, pharmacists, clinical nurse specialists, and dietitians to provide comprehensive care.
The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to assigned patients in Medical Specialties, managing a broad spectrum of conditions including general medicine, pulmonary, gastrointestinal illness, and infectious diseases. This role is designed for those who strongly believe in patient and family-centered care, planning treatment with the patient as the primary focus. The partnership between healthcare providers and families is designed to meet individual spiritual, emotional, social, and medical needs.
In this position, you will support families and patients related to the psychosocial and emotional issues encountered with diagnoses. You will also collaborate with the Patient Education Department to assist in the development of education materials and provide ongoing classes for patients and their families. The role requires a flexible schedule, with full-time and part-time options available. Shifts vary between 7A-7P or 7P-7A, and may include alternate 12-hour shifts. Staff must work three shifts during the week plus rotate weekends, with specific availability determined by unit needs and the hiring manager.
