The University of Iowa Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides consultation, comprehensive treatment planning, and a broad range of services for patients with normal and high-risk pregnancies, as well as for gynecology, including oncology and reproductive endocrinology. Our comprehensive medical, surgical, and nursing services span the full spectrum of all obstetric and gynecologic patients at University of Iowa Health Care.
In addition to patient care, the department is noted for its strong educational programs for sonography students, medical students, residents, fellows, and practicing physicians. Basic and clinical research in reproductive medicine is also an important departmental activity.
The Clinic Services Specialist serves as a vital link within the Medical Center University (MCU) OBGYN Clinic, ensuring seamless patient experiences through expert scheduling and reception management. Under general supervision, you will coordinate patient appointments and visits across multiple outpatient clinics using the EPIC system. This role requires a blend of administrative precision and interpersonal warmth, as you will be the first point of contact for many patients.
Your day will involve managing the flow of the clinic, from greeting patients upon arrival and guiding them to waiting areas to collecting co-payments and verifying insurance information. You will act as an intermediary between patients and nursing personnel regarding scheduling concerns and medical needs, while also coordinating appointments with other University of Iowa Health Care departments. Success in this position requires the ability to maintain service excellence amidst distractions, resolve immediate scheduling issues, and contribute ideas to improve assigned processes.
To be considered for an interview, applicants must upload a cover letter and resume, marking them as relevant files during submission. Job openings are posted for a minimum of 14 calendar days and may be filled at any time after the posting period ends.
Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any conviction history and will be subject to a criminal background check and credential/education verification. Up to five professional references will be requested at a later step in the recruitment process.
