The Portage County Combined General Health District is a mission-driven organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of our community. As part of the Community Health Division, our team works tirelessly to support and improve health outcomes for women, infants, and children through the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. We foster a strong culture of feedback, recognition, and collaboration, ensuring that every employee is more than just a staff member—they are a vital part of our public health initiatives and community impact.
The WIC Clinic Assistant serves as a key support pillar in the delivery of nutrition and health services. This role blends clinical and administrative duties to ensure efficient clinic operations and high-quality participant experiences. You will be the first point of contact for many participants, greeting them, managing intake, and providing essential customer service.
Your day-to-day involves performing basic health measurements such as height, length, and weight, as well as conducting hemoglobin screenings. Beyond the clinical tasks, you will play a crucial role in the breastfeeding support team, assisting with participant education and connecting families with additional health and social resources. You will also manage scheduling, maintain accurate records, and coordinate community outreach efforts to ensure participants receive the comprehensive support they need.
Working at the Portage County Health District means joining a positive workplace culture committed to professional growth and employee wellness. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, employer-paid life insurance, and a retirement match through OPERS. Our team enjoys generous paid time off, including 15 holidays and vacation based on service, along with opportunities for tuition reimbursement and ongoing training.
We value our employees' long-term growth and well-being, offering perks such as longevity pay, an annual clothing allowance, and access to an Employee Assistance Program for confidential support. Whether through agency committees, quality improvement projects, or public health emergency response activities, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that makes a difference in our community.
