We are seeking a Claims Counsel to manage, evaluate, and resolve title insurance claims and related disputes. This role serves as a strategic partner to operations, underwriting, and leadership teams, providing legal analysis on complex title, escrow, underwriting, and real estate matters. The primary objective is to mitigate financial and legal risk while supporting consistent, compliant claims handling nationwide.
In this position, you will guide the lifecycle of title insurance claims from initial notice through resolution, including coverage analysis, investigation, negotiation, and litigation oversight. You will act as a legal advisor to claims, underwriting, and operational teams, directing outside counsel and managing case strategy and budgets. The role requires identifying emerging claim trends and systemic risks to recommend process improvements and corrective actions. You will ensure all business is conducted in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the company's goodwill and profit.
This position offers the flexibility to be performed remotely. Candidates residing in Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Connecticut, Louisiana, and Wisconsin will be considered. The role may involve occasional overnight travel and supervisory responsibilities.
We are looking for a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school with an active license to practice law. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of legal experience in title insurance claims, real estate litigation, or insurance defense.
