The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) employs nearly 2,300 team members operating nine institutions statewide, which house approximately 5,800 inmates. The department's focus includes inmate programming and education, physical and behavioral health care, re-entry services, and community programs. NDCS is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA).
As the Chief Nursing Officer, you will model the NDCS values of integrity, respect, compassion, growth, and excellence as we accomplish our mission to "Keep people safe." This role serves as the strategic leader for all nursing and treatment services across NDCS facilities and clinics. You will ensure compliance with accreditation, certification, licensing standards, and regulations while fostering a culture of high-quality patient care.
In this position, you will provide leadership and supervision to nursing staff and facility Directors of Nursing. Your day-to-day impact involves planning and directing nursing care services, interpreting complex regulations, and establishing policies and procedures that align with the organization's nursing philosophy. You will manage the nursing services budget, oversee quality assurance and continuous quality improvement (CQI) committees, and represent nursing services in administrative, professional, and public settings to improve care quality and efficiency across departments.

Five years of corrections experience. Experience as a director of nursing, chief nursing officer, or a regional nurse who has experience with multi-facility management. Three years of working knowledge of NCCHC and ACA guidelines and audits.
