Join a dynamic pharmacy department at Good Samaritan Hospital, a leading healthcare facility in Cincinnati. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely distribution of medications to hospitalized patients. This position supports pharmacists across inpatient, outpatient, emergency room, and operating room settings, serving as a critical link in the medication management process.
In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation, compounding, packaging, labeling, and delivery of medications. You will work closely with a diverse team of pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to maintain high standards of patient safety and care. The position involves operating advanced pharmacy automation systems, managing inventory, and adhering to strict regulatory standards.
Your day will involve a mix of technical and interpersonal tasks. You will select, count, and compound non-sterile medications, ensuring precise calculations and safety protocols are followed. You will manage automated dispensing machines, handling tasks such as loading, refilling, and resolving discrepancies. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to inventory control, including stock rotation, monitoring expirations, and maintaining accurate records for controlled substances.
Communication is key in this role. You will interact professionally with the healthcare team to triage requests, verify delivery locations, and report any errors or discrepancies promptly. You will also be expected to handle hazardous medications and chemotherapy preparations daily, requiring a high level of attention to detail and adherence to safety guidelines.
