About the Role

As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring the pharmacy department runs smoothly. You will assist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision, adhering to all state, federal, and company policies. Your work is essential to maintaining the safety and accuracy of prescription dispensing while delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

Customer Experience

You will be the face of the pharmacy, engaging with customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Your goal is to resolve issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience for everyone who walks through the door. You will model and share customer service best practices with the team, demonstrating interpersonal habits like courtesy and proactive help. By developing strong relationships with our most valuable customers, you help foster a welcoming environment where patients feel supported.

Operations and Team Support

Under the supervision of the pharmacist, you will perform a variety of duties including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information accurately. You will assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, while verifying medicine correctness and checking for possible interactions. If you are PTCB certified, you will also assist in coaching other pharmacy technicians and cashiers on system operations.

Your responsibilities extend to inventory management, such as ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments, as well as handling cash registers and processing manual claims for third-party programs. You may also assist in administering clinical services, including the collection of blood or urine samples, and support the coordination of clinical services with healthcare clinics and external providers. Additionally, you will help maintain the pharmacy's appearance and stock levels, ensuring the department is clean, neat, and orderly.

Training and Development

We are committed to your professional growth. You will earn and maintain PTCB certification through our designated training program or state-required certification. As a condition of promotion to Senior Technician, PTCB certification is required. You will attend training sessions, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments.
