As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring the pharmacy department runs smoothly. You will assist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision, adhering to all state, federal, and company regulations. Your work is essential to maintaining the integrity of patient care and the efficiency of our operations.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include utilizing pharmacy systems to accurately obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. You will be responsible for filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, while verifying accuracy and checking for possible interactions. If you are PTCB certified, you will also have the opportunity to coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers on system operations.
You will handle various clerical duties, including processing manual claims for third-party programs, managing inventory activities like ordering and storing shipments, and maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the pharmacy department. Additionally, you may assist in administering clinical services, such as collecting blood or urine samples, and supporting outreach efforts to the local medical community.
We invest in your growth. You will earn and maintain PTCB certification through our designated training program or state-required certification. As a condition of promotion to Senior Technician, PTCB certification is required. You will also attend training sessions, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments.
