About the Role
As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring a distinctive, delightful customer experience for every patient who walks through our doors. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you will assist in the practice of pharmacy while adhering to all state, federal, and company regulations. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about healthcare and committed to delivering exceptional service.
Your Day-to-Day
Your day will involve a dynamic mix of clinical support and customer engagement. You will utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and ensure all data is entered correctly. When PTCB certified, you will also have the opportunity to coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers on system operations.
Customer interaction is at the heart of this role. You will greet patients, offer assistance with products and services, and resolve issues to ensure a positive experience. You will model best practices in interpersonal habits, such as greeting, eye contact, and courtesy, while proactively identifying needs and servicing customers until they are satisfied. You will also develop strong relationships with our most valuable customers.
Beyond the counter, you will support the pharmacy department's operations by managing inventory, handling cash registers, and processing manual claims for third-party programs. You may assist in administering clinical services, such as collecting and labeling blood or urine samples, and help coordinate services with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers. Additionally, you will maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the pharmacy department and assist in building relationships with the local medical community.
Growth and Development
We are committed to your professional growth. You will earn and maintain PTCB certification through our designated training program or state-required certification. As a condition of promotion to Senior Technician, PTCB certification is required. You will also attend training sessions, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments.
