As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring the pharmacy department runs smoothly. You will assist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision, adhering to all state, federal, and company policies. Your work is essential to maintaining the safety and accuracy of prescription dispensing while delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
You will be the face of the pharmacy, engaging with customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Your goal is to resolve issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience. You will model and share customer service best practices with the team, demonstrating interpersonal habits like courtesy and eye contact, as well as Walgreens service traits such as proactively offering help and servicing customers until they are satisfied. Building strong relationships with our most valuable customers is a key part of your daily routine.
Under the supervision of the pharmacist, you will perform a variety of duties including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and checking for possible interactions. You are responsible for reporting prescription errors immediately and adhering to the Company's policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing. Your role also involves handling cash registers, processing manual claims for third-party programs, and assisting with inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals.
You may assist the pharmacist in administering clinical services, including the collection and labeling of blood or urine samples. Additionally, you will help maintain good relationships with the local medical community through outreach to physicians, nurses, and health groups. You will also assist with the maintenance of the pharmacy department, ensuring it remains stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
We are committed to your professional growth. You will earn and maintain PTCB certification through our designated training program or state-required certification. If you are not yet certified, obtaining PTCB certification is a condition of promotion to Senior Technician. You will attend training sessions, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments.

Six months of experience in a retail environment. Prior work experience with Walgreens. Good math skills for filling prescriptions accurately (counting, measuring, and weighing medications). Good computer skills. Knowledge of store inventory control. PTCB certification.
