About the Role
As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring the pharmacy department runs smoothly. You will be the face of our pharmacy, delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience by engaging with patients, resolving issues, and building strong relationships with our most valuable customers. Your work directly impacts patient care by assisting in the accurate and efficient processing of prescriptions while adhering to strict state, federal, and company regulations.
Day in the Life
Your day involves a dynamic mix of clinical support and customer service. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you will utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, enter data accurately, and assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring medications. You will also handle cash registers, process manual claims for third-party programs, and manage inventory activities such as ordering and storing pharmaceuticals.
Beyond the counter, you may assist with clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood or urine samples, and help coordinate care with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers. You will also support the pharmacy team by maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked environment and fostering relationships with the local medical community through outreach to physicians, nurses, and health groups.
Training & Growth
We are committed to your professional development. You will have the opportunity to earn and maintain PTCB certification through our designated training program or state-required certification. As you grow, you will attend manager-requested training, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments. Certification is a condition for promotion to Senior Technician.
