About the Role
As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring the pharmacy department runs smoothly. You will assist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision, adhering to all state, federal, and company regulations. Your work is essential to maintaining the safety and accuracy of prescription dispensing while delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Customer Experience
You will be the face of the pharmacy, engaging with customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Your goal is to resolve issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience for everyone who walks through the door. You will model and share customer service best practices with the team, demonstrating key interpersonal habits such as courtesy, eye contact, and proactive help. By developing strong relationships with our most valuable customers, you help create a welcoming environment that reflects Walgreens service traits.
Operations and Team Support
Under the supervision of the pharmacist, pharmacy manager, and store manager, you will perform a variety of duties including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information accurately. You will assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, while verifying medicine correctness and checking for possible interactions. If you are PTCB certified, you will also assist in coaching other pharmacy technicians and cashiers on system operations.
Your responsibilities extend to inventory management, where you will help order, unpack, check, and store shipments of pharmaceuticals. You will also handle clerical duties such as processing manual claims for third-party programs and managing cash registers. Additionally, you may assist in administering clinical services, such as collecting and labeling blood or urine samples, and supporting the coordination of clinical services with healthcare clinics and external providers.
Training and Development
We are committed to your professional growth. You will be expected to earn and maintain PTCB certification through our designated training program or state-required certification. As a condition of promotion to senior technician, PTCB certification is required. You will also attend training sessions, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments.
