As a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacy team and delivering a distinctive customer experience. Working under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you assist in the practice of pharmacy while ensuring compliance with state, federal, and company regulations. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about healthcare and committed to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and care.
Your day involves a blend of clinical support and operational excellence. You will utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and ensure all data is entered correctly. A key part of your responsibility is filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, while verifying medicine accuracy and checking for possible interactions. If you hold PTCB certification, you will also have the opportunity to coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers on system operations.
Beyond the counter, you will engage directly with customers by greeting them, offering assistance with products, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience. You will model customer service best practices, such as proactive help and identifying needs, to build strong relationships with our most valuable customers. You will also handle telephone calls to physicians, process manual claims for third-party programs, and support inventory management activities, including ordering and storing shipments.
We are committed to your professional development. You will earn and maintain PTCB certification through our designated training program or state-required certification. As a condition of promotion to Senior Technician, PTCB certification is required. You will also attend training sessions, complete required learning modules, and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments.
