About the Role
As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring the pharmacy department runs smoothly. You will assist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision, adhering to all state, federal, and company regulations. Your work is essential to maintaining the safety and accuracy of prescription dispensing while delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Customer Experience
You will be the face of the pharmacy, engaging with customers and patients by greeting them and offering proactive assistance. Your goal is to resolve issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience for everyone who walks through the door. By modeling best practices—such as maintaining eye contact, offering help before being asked, and servicing until satisfied—you will help build strong relationships with our most valuable customers.
Daily Operations
Your day-to-day responsibilities include utilizing pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and processing prescriptions accurately. You will be responsible for filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, while verifying medicine correctness and checking for possible interactions. If you are PTCB certified, you will also assist in coaching other pharmacy technicians and cashiers.
Beyond dispensing, you will handle various clerical duties, including processing manual claims for third-party programs, managing inventory activities like ordering and storing shipments, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy department. You may also assist in administering clinical services, such as collecting blood or urine samples, and supporting the pharmacy staff in coordinating with healthcare clinics and external providers.
Growth and Development
We are committed to your professional growth. You will have the opportunity to earn and maintain PTCB certification through our designated training program or state-required certification. As a condition of promotion to Senior Technician, PTCB certification is required. You will also attend regular training sessions, complete required PPLs, and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments.
