About the Role

As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you play a vital role in supporting the pharmacist and ensuring the pharmacy department runs smoothly. You will assist in the practice of pharmacy under direct supervision, adhering to all state, federal, and company regulations. Your work is essential to maintaining the safety and accuracy of prescription dispensing while delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience to every patient who walks through our doors.

Customer Experience

Your day involves engaging with customers and patients by greeting them warmly and offering proactive assistance with products and services. You will resolve issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience, modeling best practices such as maintaining eye contact, showing courtesy, and servicing customers until they are satisfied. A key part of your mission is developing strong relationships with our most valuable customers and sharing these interpersonal habits with the entire team.

Operations and Workflow

Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, Pharmacy Manager, and Store Manager, you will utilize pharmacy systems to enter and verify patient and drug information accurately. Your responsibilities include filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, as well as checking for possible interactions. You will also handle cash registers, process manual claims for third-party programs, and manage inventory activities such as ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments.

If you are PTCB certified, you will have the opportunity to assist and coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers. You may also support clinical services by collecting and labeling blood or urine samples and assisting in the coordination of healthcare clinics. Additionally, you will help maintain the pharmacy's appearance and stock levels, ensuring the department remains clean, neat, and orderly.

Training and Development

We are committed to your professional growth. You will earn and maintain PTCB certification through our designated training program or state-required certification. As a condition of promotion to Senior Technician, you will complete specific training modules and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with the latest healthcare and pharmacy developments.
