This role supports the Behavioral Response Team and Mobile Crisis Response service, extending staffing to provide 24/7 coverage. The team is dedicated to promoting rehabilitation, recovery, and resiliency for individuals and families facing serious emotional, neurobiological, and behavioral disorders. The department serves a diverse patient population ranging from neonates and children to adults and geriatric patients, including those with severe mental illness, chronic substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders.
You will coordinate and provide essential services and resources to help individuals and families identify their strengths and address barriers to independent functioning. In this position, you will support clients during crisis situations, offering personalized interventions that enhance their ability to make informed decisions. Your day-to-day work involves facilitating the development of life skills, such as daily living activities, socialization, and community functioning, while assisting clients in adapting to home, school, work, and recreational environments.
You will collaborate with medical providers and multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive service plans, including recovery management and crisis intervention strategies. A key part of your role is acting as a mentor to promote hope and recovery, teaching symptom monitoring and relapse prevention skills. You will also assist clients in accessing community resources, financial assistance, and stable housing, while ensuring adherence to hospital policies and patient safety protocols.
This is a full-time position working the night shift, approximately from 9:30 PM to 8:00 AM, with days varying by individual schedule. To support 24/7 coverage, the role includes specific shift differentials: 17% for weekday nights, 26% for weekend nights, and 15% for weekend days.
Candidates must possess a valid New Mexico Driver's License and a UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit (obtained within 60 days). Essential credentials include CPR for Healthcare/BLS certification (obtained within 30 days) and Certified Peer Specialist recognition in the State of New Mexico. A background check and substance testing are required as part of the hiring process.
