The Surgical Technologist is a vital member of the Operating Room team, working under the direction of a Registered Nurse to deliver safe and effective nursing care. This role is central to the hospital's mission of providing high-quality care within a Level I Trauma setting. The position supports a diverse range of surgical services, including Vascular, Cardiac, Neurosurgery, Robotics, Spine, Orthopedics, and General Surgery, among others.
In this capacity, you will function as part of the sterile team, assisting surgeons at the operative field, maintaining sterile fields, and managing instrument turnover between cases. The role involves direct patient care across all age groups, from neonates to geriatric patients, requiring a proactive approach to patient safety and collaboration with the nursing team in clinical decision-making. You will also have opportunities to serve as a preceptor and engage in professional development through educational programs and workshops.
This full-time position offers competitive shift differentials: 17% for weekday nights, 26% for weekend nights, and 15% for weekend days. A sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates. Compensation is determined by factors including experience, education, and organizational needs.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent and be a graduate of a Surgical Technician program. Certification as a Surgical Technologist and current CPR/BLS credentials are required. While 1.5 years of direct experience is essential, bilingual proficiency in English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo is considered a valuable asset.
