About the Mission
The Correctional Managed Care team is dedicated to addressing the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. Our goal is to provide compassionate, safe, and therapeutic care in secure environments.
About the Role
This position serves as a vital support to professional nursing staff, performing technical duties in patient care within a correctional setting. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe therapeutic environment while assisting patients with essential daily needs, including cleanliness, grooming, rest, activity, and nourishment.
Your day-to-day responsibilities involve collecting and documenting critical health data such as vital signs, height, weight, and intake/output. You will assist with personal hygiene, chronic wound care, feeding, and the safe movement of patients with altered mobility. A significant portion of the role focuses on medication management: distributing and documenting medications in compliance with Title 40, Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 95, while ensuring the security and proper upkeep of the facility's drug room and pharmaceutical equipment.
Work Environment & Requirements
This role is based within the confines of a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center. Candidates must be willing to undergo a security clearance and pre-employment drug testing. The position is non-benefit eligible, hourly paid, and limited to a maximum of 19 hours per week.
