The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team within the Cardiology & Pulmonary Clinic at Duke University Hospital. Embracing our mission of "Advancing Health Together," you will provide direct patient care while ensuring the clinic runs smoothly. This role bridges administrative efficiency and clinical support, assisting medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients across a diverse range of specialties.
The clinic is a dynamic environment spanning four hallways, covering Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Pulmonary, and Cardio-thoracic surgery. You will support patients with conditions ranging from lung transplants and cystic fibrosis to heart arrhythmias, advanced heart failure, and cardiac oncology. Your day will involve a blend of greeting patients, managing records, and performing clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, administering medications, drawing blood, and assisting with procedures like electrocardiograms.

Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program (strongly preferred for all levels). Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) (strongly preferred for Levels II and III).
Skills: Medical Terminology, Sterile Techniques, Infection Control Procedures, BLS, Aama, Amt, Nha-Ccma, Ncma, Arma, X-Rays.
Education: High school or GED graduation required; Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred.
