We've made a lot of progress since opening our doors in 1942, but one thing has never changed: our commitment to serve, heal, lead, educate, and innovate. We believe that every award earned, every record broken, and every patient helped is because of the dedicated employees who fill our hallways.
At Ochsner, whether you work with patients every day or support those who do, you are making a difference and that matters. Come make a difference at Ochsner Health and discover your future today!
This position provides individualized medical care to assigned patients through in-person, electronic, and telephone interactions under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider. You will assist in delivering health care services to patients of various backgrounds and ages while maintaining positive relationships with patients and their families.
In this role, you will work effectively with fellow employees to ensure the efficient flow of patients throughout their visit, providing support to both patients and attending physicians. You will communicate via phone to ensure patient needs are met timely and accurately, and access company data systems to document pertinent medical information. Your work ensures that patients and providers are prepared for visits, questions are answered prior to departure, and rooms are ready for the next appointment.
As a member of the Ochsner team, you will remain knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements. You will ensure compliance with all such laws and regulations, adhering to our Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct. This includes the immediate reporting of any known or suspected unethical behaviors, patient/employee safety concerns, or privacy issues.
Please note that duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue. As an incumbent in a patient care area, you will work directly with patients and specimens that could contain communicable diseases, carrying an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases. Additionally, there may be an occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or waste within the healthcare environment.
