CDL Driver - Rear Load

About the Role

The Commercial Rear/Side Load Driver is the frontline of our waste removal services, dedicated to safely and efficiently serving commercial customers. This role is essential for maintaining clean communities and ensuring the smooth operation of our recycling and solid waste logistics. You will be responsible for collecting waste from commercial buildings and transporting it to post-collection facilities, acting as a professional representative of our company in every interaction.

Day in the Life

Your day begins with a thorough pre-trip safety inspection of the commercial waste or recycling vehicle, ensuring the side-load or rear-load truck and its hydraulic systems are ready for the route. As you navigate your assigned collection route, you will operate the truck and ancillary equipment to collect solid waste and recyclables, compacting them efficiently while adhering to strict safety protocols.

A significant part of your role involves managing the quality of service; you must identify and remove prohibited items like flammable materials from customer carts. You will also maintain the vehicle's cleanliness and manage any assigned helpers. Throughout the day, you will communicate effectively with customers and supervisors, reporting any mechanical issues immediately and documenting route activities. The role requires adaptability to changing weather conditions, from extreme heat to storms, and the ability to work in a loud, outdoor environment while maneuvering the truck in tight spaces and heavy traffic.
