CDL Driver - Front Load

About the Role

Front-End Drivers are the backbone of our waste and recycling operations, operating front-end trucks to service multi-family residential and commercial routes. In this role, you will fulfill customer contracts by removing and transporting waste or recyclables, ensuring efficient service for multiple customers daily. Your work involves collecting solid waste, transferring it to appropriate stations, landfills, or drop-off locations, and maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the communities you serve.

Day in the Life

Your day begins with a thorough pre-trip inspection of the vehicle and equipment to ensure everything is ready for safe operation. You will navigate designated routes using key maps and GPS, maneuvering large trucks into tight clearance spaces and backing up distances of up to 120 feet. A significant part of the job involves physically engaging with the collection process: opening container enclosures, rolling 3-4-yard cans into position, and operating the truck's mechanical systems to dump loads.

Throughout the shift, you will interact courteously with customers and the general public, answering questions and addressing requests. You are responsible for maintaining a clean environment by removing loose trash from the truck and surrounding areas to ensure safety along roads and highways. The role requires constant vigilance to detect loose debris, monitor operations, and follow strict safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures. At the end of the day, you will complete necessary documentation, including vehicle condition reports and productivity logs, before returning the truck to the branch.
