CDL Driver - Front Load

About the Role

Front-End Drivers are the backbone of our waste and recycling operations, operating front-end trucks to service multi-family residential and commercial routes. In this role, you will fulfill customer contracts by collecting solid waste and recyclables, transporting them to appropriate stations, landfills, or drop-off locations. You will be responsible for servicing multiple customers daily along assigned routes, ensuring efficient and safe operations from pickup to final disposal.

Day in the Life

Your day begins with a pre-trip inspection to ensure the vehicle is in safe working order. You will navigate designated routes using a key map and GPS, maneuvering the truck into tight clearance spaces and backing up distances of up to 120 feet or more. A significant part of the job involves physically engaging with the collection process: opening container enclosures, rolling 3-4-yard cans into position, and operating the truck's mechanical equipment to dump loads.

Throughout the shift, you will maintain a clean and safe environment by clearing loose debris from the truck and surrounding areas. You will interact courteously with customers and the public, answering questions and addressing requests. The role requires constant vigilance to detect loose debris, monitor equipment status, and adhere to strict safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures. You will conclude your shift by completing necessary logs, route productivity sheets, and post-trip vehicle condition reports.
