At Pitney Bowes, top talent builds meaningful careers and lasting impact. We Move fast, Deliver excellence, and Win together—that's The Pitney Bowes way. Here, how we work matters just as much as what we achieve. We are looking for people who act with urgency, accountability, and purpose; deliver high-quality work with consistency and pride; collaborate effectively to elevate those around them; and focus on outcomes that drive impact and growth.
Pitney Bowes Presort Services performs mail sorting, handling work that would typically be performed by the USPS®. By performing this sorting work on behalf of our clients, we are able to share a portion of the discounted postage rates with them. Our national network of operating centers processes over 17 billion pieces of mail annually. We provide mailers with end-to-end solutions from pick-up at their location to delivery into the postal system network, providing optimal postage savings.
Join Pitney Bowes as a CDL A Lead Truck Driver, 1st Shift, at our Presort facility in Hartford, Connecticut. In this role, you will serve as a vital link between the transportation supervisor, operations team, and production. You will coordinate with production to ensure mail is dispatched on time and verify that all transportation tasks are completed efficiently.
Your day will involve communicating special, late, or missing pickup details to drivers, reviewing pick-up slips for USPS supplies, and verifying physical container counts. You will inspect assigned vehicles daily per PBPS pre-trip inspection guidelines, report any defective findings immediately, and maintain daily vehicle inspection reports and driver logs for mileage and cargo. Additionally, you will ensure mail is reviewed for proper dates and slugs before loading, verify that USPS equipment is used only for "Live" mail, and assist in Quality Control or Barcode departments between assigned pickups.
As a Lead Driver, you will also ensure all drivers are compliant with DOT regulations, assist in maintaining DOT files, and fill in for drivers on any shift with little or no prior notice. You will keep the work area clean by ensuring mail bins are properly stored and floors are swept to prevent tripping hazards. This role requires the ability to solve basic transportation problems, communicate concerns regarding missing slips or container counts to Center Receiving, and execute all driver quality procedures outlined in the Total Quality Management program.
We will provide the opportunity to grow and develop your career in a challenging and unique environment. We offer an inclusive environment that encourages diverse perspectives and ideas, contributing to the success of a transforming organization. We also offer comprehensive benefits globally through our PB Benefits and Wellbeing Programs.
