This position serves as a vital support pillar within the Cath Lab and radiology departments, ensuring the safe and expert operation of complex imaging equipment during cardiac procedures. The role is designed for a Radiologic Technologist who thrives in a high-acuity environment, bridging the gap between technical precision and compassionate patient care.
You will be responsible for managing the full spectrum of radiologic equipment, applying scientific principles to capture high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining strict safety protocols. Beyond equipment operation, you will actively participate in direct patient care, monitoring patients for symptoms and reactions throughout their cardiac procedures. This includes assisting with sterile preparation, setting up trays, and cross-training to the scrub role to assist physicians directly during interventions.
The role demands a high level of situational awareness, particularly in emergency scenarios. You will be prepared to take immediate, appropriate action during adverse developments, such as cardiac arrest, and assist with patient transportation as needed. Your contributions extend to departmental performance improvement initiatives, where you may serve on teams to implement changes that enhance patient and employee satisfaction.
As a member of the DCH Health System, you will adhere to our core behavioral standards, fostering positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. The work environment is collaborative, requiring frequent interaction with physicians, team members, and visitors. You will be expected to navigate complex communication channels, from face-to-face interactions to electronic correspondence, while maintaining a professional demeanor even when addressing aggressive situations.
Physical presence onsite is essential for this role. You will work in an environment that includes exposure to human body fluids, disease, and hazardous materials, necessitating the consistent use of protective safety equipment. The role involves a medium workload with significant physical demands, including prolonged standing, lifting, and the ability to respond rapidly to emergency situations.
This position operates on a rotating shift schedule, including 3-11, 11-7, weekend, and holiday shifts. A critical component of the role is the on-call requirement; successful candidates must be able to respond within 20 minutes of a call-out. The role requires cross-training to the scrub position and the ability to perform duties for adult and geriatric patient populations.
Candidates must hold a license from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and possess the ability to read, write, and comprehend English. Interested applicants should ensure they meet all DCH Health System policies and procedures, including the use of required internal software for time, attendance, and learning management.
