About the Role

This position is dedicated to creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. As a Cashier or Checker, you will be the face of the store, responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. Your day will involve being visible and actively greeting, engaging, and assisting customers as they navigate the checkout lane. You will process transactions quickly and accurately using the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling a variety of payment methods including cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, and complex loyalty offers. Beyond the register, you will serve as a resource for shoppers, answering questions about products throughout the store to make them feel welcome, important, and appreciated.

You will work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment, managing conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner. A key part of your role is ensuring compliance with all food safety regulations, local laws, and company guidelines regarding restricted items like alcohol and tobacco. You will also practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting any issues to management, while reinforcing safety programs by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions.
