Community Associates operate under the direction of the Social Service Director to deliver on-site, trauma-informed social services at city sanctuary hotels throughout New York City. This role is designed to welcome and engage migrant and asylum-seeking individuals, including single adults, families with children, and adult families, as they enter the sanctuary hotel and begin navigating life in New York City.
Working cooperatively with hotel operations and security staff, Community Associates serve as a critical bridge between clients and essential resources. The position involves conducting culturally sensitive assessments to identify strengths, barriers, and service needs, followed by making targeted referrals and coordinating with City agencies, immigration services, and community-based organizations. The role requires a deep understanding of trauma-informed care, child development, and immigration procedures to effectively support vulnerable populations.
