The Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) is a social and human services agency dedicated to partnering with families, caregivers, and the community. Our mission is to strengthen families, ensure safety, and achieve permanency for all Arizona's children through prevention, services, and support.
We call ourselves "Compassioneers" because everything we do is done with a compassionate heart. We work diligently to protect and support the safety, well-being, and future of vulnerable children and families across the state. DCS is proud to be a pillar of strength for our communities, building a safer, more compassionate, and more resilient Arizona.
Working for DCS is more than just a job—it is a mission-driven career that offers purpose, growth, and the opportunity to make a lasting difference. You will join a team passionate about child welfare, committed to serving with integrity, compassion, and accountability.
As a Case Manager/Child Safety Specialist, you will be on the front lines of child welfare, responding to allegations of abuse or neglect and conducting critical safety assessments. Your day will involve working directly with families in their homes and the community, coordinating essential services, and developing comprehensive case plans.
You will collaborate with courts, providers, and partner agencies to manage cases throughout your assigned region. This role requires traveling to court hearings, preparing professional reports, and supporting placement needs, including transporting children when necessary. While the position is full-time (40 hours/week) and primarily on-site or in the field, alternative work hours may be required to meet the needs of the families we serve.
New hires must successfully complete a rigorous 22-week in-person training program. This CORE program includes seven weeks of classroom training held in midtown Phoenix, organized in one- to three-week blocks. Eligible hires receive hotel accommodations, as well as meal and mileage reimbursements during this required training period. Upon completion of the program, you will be eligible for incremental pay increases as you gain experience within the agency.
