The Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) is a social and human services agency dedicated to partnering with families, caregivers, and the community. Our mission is to strengthen families, ensure safety, and achieve permanency for all Arizona’s children through prevention, services, and support.
We call ourselves "Compassioneers" because everything we do is done with a compassionate heart. As a pillar of strength for our communities, we work diligently to protect and support the safety, well-being, and future of vulnerable children and families across the state. Our goal is to build a safer, more compassionate, and more resilient Arizona.
As a Case Manager/Child Safety Specialist, you will embark on a mission-driven career that offers purpose, growth, and the opportunity to make a lasting difference. This role is more than a job; it is an opportunity to give back to your community and help shape a brighter future for Arizona’s children and families.
You will work full-time on-site and in the field, responding to allegations of child abuse or neglect. Your day-to-day involves conducting interviews, assessing child safety, and working directly with families in their homes and the community. You will coordinate services, develop case plans, attend court hearings, and prepare professional reports. Additionally, you will manage cases throughout your assigned region, collaborate with courts and partner agencies, and support placement needs.
New hires must successfully complete a 22-week in-person training program. The CORE program includes seven weeks of classroom training held in midtown Phoenix, organized in one- to three-week blocks. Eligible hires receive hotel accommodations, as well as meal and mileage reimbursements during required in-person training. Upon successful completion of this program, employees become eligible for incremental pay increases as they grow in their roles.
