About the Role
The Cardiovascular Surgical Technician plays a vital role in the cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) environment, providing essential assistance to the cardiac surgeon. This position is critical to ensuring the safety and efficiency of cardiology-related procedures and surgeries.
In this role, you will prepare the operating room according to specific case types, arranging instruments and supplies while ensuring all surgical devices are functioning properly. You will maintain the sterilization of surgical equipment and provide sterile instruments under strict sterile technique to the surgeon. Your responsibilities include assisting the team in positioning the patient, managing the supply of fluids such as plasma, saline, blood, and glucose, and performing intraoperative tasks like holding retractors and cutting sutures as directed. Post-procedure, you will assist with dressings and perform critical counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before and after the operation. Additionally, you will be responsible for washing and sterilizing equipment and maintaining a clean operating room environment.
