About the Role
This position serves as a vital member of the surgical team, operating under direct supervision to assist surgeons and the broader medical staff. The role combines the core duties of a surgical technologist with the advanced responsibilities of a surgical technologist first-assistant. You will facilitate surgical procedures by anticipating the surgeon's needs, providing necessary instruments and supplies, and maintaining strict aseptic technique throughout the operation.
In this capacity, you will prepare for scheduled procedures by ensuring all equipment and supplies are ready, maintain a clean and safe operating room environment, and assist with patient transportation and positioning. During surgery, you will provide direct assistance to the surgeon, handling tissue, providing exposure, suturing, and achieving hemostasis. Additionally, you may assist as a second circulator, participate in the orientation of new personnel, and contribute to the evaluation of new surgical products and departmental policy development.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements
- verifiedHigh school diploma or equivalent
- verifiedCertification as a surgical technologist by an accredited certifying agency recognized by the Association of Surgical Technologists
- verifiedGraduation from an accredited First Assistant program
- verifiedSurgical First Assistant certification
- verifiedCertified in CPR
- verifiedOne to two years experience as a surgical technologist in an operating room setting
- verifiedKnowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
