About the Role
The Buyer Planner serves as a critical link between production, sourcing, suppliers, and inventory management at our Urbana, Ohio manufacturing facility. This role is designed to ensure smooth, uninterrupted production in a fast-paced, high-mix environment by balancing daily operational execution with longer-term planning decisions.
You will operate confidently on both the shop floor and in an office setting, acting as the primary point of contact for assigned suppliers regarding delivery commitments and material availability. Success in this position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to proactively identify potential material shortages to initiate mitigation actions before they impact production schedules.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleCreate and maintain material requirement plans using SAP/MRP based on forecasts and demand
- check_circleExecute full procurement process including purchase order creation, rescheduling, and closure
- check_circleServe as primary contact for suppliers regarding delivery commitments and material availability
- check_circleManage inventory levels to balance service levels, production needs, and working capital objectives
- check_circleMaintain accurate material master data in SAP including lead times and planning settings
- check_circleResolve purchase order, receipt, and invoice discrepancies with suppliers and internal teams
- check_circleMonitor excess, slow-moving, and obsolete inventory and support reduction initiatives
- check_circleIdentify opportunities to improve planning, purchasing, and ERP utilization processes
Requirements
- verifiedExperience in buying, Material planning, or materials management within a manufacturing environment
- verifiedStrong working knowledge of SAP PP & MM
- verifiedProficiency in Microsoft Excel
Nice to Have
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Engineering, Business, or a related field. Experience in high-mix or high-volume manufacturing. Exposure to continuous improvement or lean manufacturing concepts.
