About the Opportunity
This position serves as a strategic partner to City National Bank's Business Control Officer, Senior Business Control Manager, and the Risk Framework leadership team. The role is designed to bridge the gap between business objectives and the bank's risk appetite, ensuring alignment with established limits while fostering a robust risk culture within Consumer Banking and Lending Operations.
As a key liaison, you will navigate the complexities of the first, second, and third lines of defense. Your work will directly influence the development and implementation of new programs, regulatory strategies, and risk management requirements. By leveraging industry practices and coordinating across the organization, you will help identify issues, design solutions, and drive the practical application of risk controls that protect the bank and its clients.
About the Role
Day-to-day, you will act as the primary voice for Business Control in both internal and external forums, often representing the Business Control Office at meetings with senior leadership. You will analyze data impacting technical, operational, and business functions to provide actionable insights on their implications for the business line.
Your impact will be felt through the execution of essential risk program functions, including Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSAs), Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), and Issue Management. You will cultivate risk literacy within the first line of defense, designing preventive and detective controls that enhance the overall control environment. Beyond analysis, you will serve as a critical liaison for compliance activities, legal engagements, and audits, ensuring that regulatory interactions are managed effectively for lending teams.
This role demands a balance of strategic oversight and hands-on execution. You will coordinate risk-mitigating actions, provide status updates to senior management, and facilitate special projects that drive organizational change. Whether coaching emerging talent, developing compelling presentations for stakeholders, or simplifying complex problems under tight timelines, you will be instrumental in building strong alliances across all lines of business to deliver results.
