By joining the American Red Cross, you become a vital part of the world's largest humanitarian network. This is more than a job; it is a movement where success is measured in people helped, communities made whole, and individuals equipped to never stop changing lives. You will join a team of welcoming, exceptional, and diverse individuals who are uncompromising in their unity. Here, your career is a force for good, aligning your life's work with a mission bigger than yourself.
We believe in caring for our team as much as we care for others. You will find mentors who empower your growth along a purposeful career path, and a community that respects who you are both inside and outside of work. As a mission-based organization, we provide comprehensive support to ensure our team can do great work.
This position serves as an onsite subject matter expert for building engineering within the Cleveland Chapter. Under minimal guidance, you will oversee and conduct maintenance and repair in specific, regulated American Red Cross buildings. Your role involves advising on the planning for building systems, electricity, equipment repair, and general maintenance, while maintaining a deep knowledge of structural systems, control systems, and code issues.
You will perform specialized service work across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and carpentry systems, conducting preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC equipment and other machinery. A key part of your day involves ensuring all regulatory operations meet minimum compliance standards, enforcing safety policies, and managing facility safety documentation, including fire extinguisher inspections and emergency generator oversight. Additionally, you will provide leadership guidance to volunteers and administer the facility maintenance work-order system to coordinate timely responses to emergency requests.
This position is based at the Cleveland Chapter. Please note that this role is not eligible for relocation assistance, and candidates must reside no more than 45 minutes from the chapter location.
