About the Mission

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP), within U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is hiring immediately for entry-level career Law Enforcement Officer opportunities. Join an elite team of highly trained professionals whose camaraderie, pride, and purpose are hallmarks of a daily mission to protect America. As a Border Patrol Agent (BPA), you will be part of a 60,000+ workforce striving to safeguard our borders, deter illicit activity, and enhance the nation's economic prosperity.

About the Role

This is an exciting and rewarding career path offering excellent pay, exceptional federal benefits, and job stability. You will work alongside a dedicated team to detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws, prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers, and patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways. The role involves maintaining surveillance, interpreting physical evidence, and utilizing a variety of government assets including vehicles, horses, vessels, and off-road equipment.

Training and Development

After selection, you will undergo approximately six months of intensive instruction at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico. Training covers immigration and nationality laws, law enforcement operations, driver training, physical techniques, and firearms proficiency. While proficiency in Spanish is required for the role, agents are provided training at the Academy to become proficient in the language.

Duty Assignments and Relocation

Duty assignments are determined at the time of offer based on operational needs and may include the Southwest Border, including prioritized locations. These assignments may or may not align with a candidate's first-choice preferences, and relocation may be required.
