The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) is the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization, representing over 80,000 pilots at 42 U.S. and Canadian airlines. This role is based in our Rosemont, IL office, where we serve as the primary advocate for pilot welfare and retirement security.
The Benefits Specialist serves as a strategic partner to the United Airlines Master Executive Council (MEC), helping to develop and implement goals related to pilot welfare. You will act as an in-house consultant, providing professional and technical support to pilots regarding complex benefit programs, including Group Life, Health, Dental, Disability, Retirement Plans (defined contribution and market-based cash balance), and Section 125 Plans.
In this position, you will bridge the gap between the pilot group, company representatives, and external service providers such as investment managers, trustees, and insurance brokers. Your day-to-day involves functioning as the primary contact for individual pilots, resolving benefit issues, and collaborating with the MEC Retirement & Insurance Committee. You will also take the lead on developing and conducting benefits-related seminars, creating strategic communications, and preparing presentations to educate the membership on current trends and legislation.
Candidates are invited to apply with a resume highlighting their experience in employee benefits design, operation, and legal requirements. The selection process focuses on identifying individuals with strong communication skills and a deep understanding of welfare benefits and compensation laws.
ALPA is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in a safe workplace. We prohibit discrimination, harassment, and harmful behavior based on race, color, sex, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, gender identity, caste, disability, genetic information, pregnancy, or other protected characteristics. We highly value everyone and encourage applications from minorities, veterans, and people with disabilities.
