New Haven Youth & Family Services is dedicated to empowering youth and families through a supportive, empowering culture focused on personal growth, teamwork, and professional development. We strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people facing significant challenges.
As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will serve as a vital support system for adolescents navigating emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges within our therapeutic residential setting. This role exists to bridge the gap between clinical treatment plans and daily life, ensuring that every youth receives consistent, trauma-informed care.
In this position, you will implement individualized behavior support plans under the guidance of licensed clinicians while providing direct supervision and mentorship. Your day-to-day impact involves monitoring client safety, documenting progress, and facilitating therapeutic groups and skill-building activities. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team—including clinicians, educators, nurses, and families—to reinforce coping skills and pro-social behaviors. By modeling healthy communication and maintaining a safe, structured environment, you will help youth navigate crises and build resilience.
Candidates selected for an interview will be expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of trauma-informed care and crisis intervention. The process includes a review of relevant certifications (such as CPR, First Aid, and behavioral de-escalation training) and a discussion of your approach to managing challenging behaviors in a residential setting.
New Haven Youth & Family Services is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are dedicated to fostering an environment where every team member can thrive.
