About the Role

The Behavioral Aide serves as a vital support partner to teachers and students, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment. This role is designed to bridge the gap between educational instruction and behavioral support, helping students with learning, social, emotional, or behavioral needs succeed academically and personally.

You will be the eyes and ears on the ground, implementing Individual Education Plans (IEP) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) while modeling positive behaviors through Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodologies. From facilitating recreational activities like athletics and crafts to managing crisis situations using Pro-ACT or CPI techniques, your presence ensures continuity of care and instruction throughout the school day.

Day in the Life

Your day involves a dynamic mix of instructional support, direct student supervision, and data collection. You will assist teachers in content areas, tailor instruction to individual student needs, and monitor students during breaks, meals, and transportation. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to recording daily data on behavior and skill progression to track learning objectives.

Flexibility is key, as you may be required to travel to different locations within a 30-mile radius of your assigned region. Whether you are intervening in an emergency, facilitating off-campus trips, or serving as a substitute teacher (for BA III roles), you will maintain open communication with supervisors to ensure student safety and program integrity.

Hiring Process

Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED (BA I-II) or a Bachelor's degree (BA III), along with prior experience in a school or treatment setting. Essential clearances, including DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background and TB Clearance, are required prior to employment. Preferred certifications include Pro-ACT, CPI intervention training, and CPR.
