We are now hiring for Summer 2026! The Baseball and Softball Sports Specialist will be based out of the David D. Hunting YMCA, with programs extending to local parks around Grand Rapids. In this role, you will work alongside our program team to provide the city with a free youth baseball and softball league for children in grades 1st through 6th.
You will be responsible for planning, performing, and organizing activities and games for youth and teens. Your primary goal is to ensure a safe, fun environment where members can interact and enjoy the sport. This is a seasonal, non-exempt position running from the end of May through mid-August, with a schedule of Monday through Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, plus occasional Saturday availability.
Applicants must possess a working knowledge of sports and the ability to actively participate and lead activities. Candidates should be able to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles. Please note that a State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT) is required. Additionally, Blood Borne Pathogen training is mandatory, and both CPR and First Aid certifications must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
