As a Barista / Cashier, you are the face of our café, responsible for creating a personable and memorable experience for every guest. Day in the Life
Your day begins with a focus on quality and safety, ensuring all food and beverage items are fresh, properly labeled, and organized according to FIFO (first in, first out) procedures. You will operate the cash register with efficiency, handling transactions in a timely manner while maintaining a calm demeanor even during high-volume periods or atypical events.
Communication is at the heart of your work. You will greet guests with clear, enthusiastic words and body language, anticipating their needs and answering questions with care. A key part of your contribution involves highlighting café items and recommending pairings based on customer purchases, showcasing your in-depth knowledge of ingredients and products. You will also play a vital role in team development by assisting in the training of new members, offering respectful coaching and reinforcing performance standards.
Throughout your shift, you will maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering strictly to health, safety, and sanitation guidelines. Whether you are standing for extended periods, lifting items, or navigating a busy environment, your focus remains on delivering a seamless experience for our guests while upholding the integrity and honesty of the team.
Work Environment
This position operates primarily behind the café counter in close proximity to co-workers. The environment can be loud, and the role involves constant physical activity, including standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting objects up to 30 pounds. The work requires the ability to manipulate fingers and hands for tasks such as cutting, measuring, pouring, and serving, as well as maintaining good vision for both close and distant focus.
