The Banquet Chef at La Bahia Hotel & Spa is a proactive culinary leader dedicated to planning, preparing, and executing exceptional banquet cuisine for weddings, corporate events, galas, and private dining experiences. This role exists to maintain our reputation for culinary excellence and impeccable service while creating unforgettable experiences in the heart of Santa Cruz.
In this position, you will design innovative seasonal menus that showcase local Santa Cruz County ingredients and California coastal cuisine. You will collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop signature banquet offerings that reflect the hotel's luxury brand standards. Your day will involve conducting menu tastings with clients, overseeing food preparation for events ranging from intimate gatherings to large-scale functions, and coordinating timing with front-of-house management to ensure seamless guest experiences.
As a leader, you will mentor a team of 8-12 banquet cooks and prep staff, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes professional growth and culinary creativity. You will adapt quickly to last-minute changes in guest counts or menu modifications and participate in post-event evaluations to drive continuous improvement.
