The API Engagement Engineer serves as a strategic advocate for Application & Service development teams across the organization. In this capacity, you will manage multiple teams simultaneously, providing architectural guidance and best practices for REST API development. You will be the source of knowledge for RESTful standards, designing and reviewing API specifications to ensure high-quality, complex multi-service application implementations.
Your mission involves teaching teams to utilize a new suite of API development tools and helping them leverage the API Gateway effectively. You will champion the transition toward Microservice/SOA architectures and assist teams in promoting their APIs to the level of Enterprise & Productize APIs for wide market consumption. This role requires a deep understanding of Synchrony's business domains to drive technology best practices and solve complex challenges.
