The Department of Health & Kinesiology at the University of Utah invites applications for a full-time, 1.0 FTE Lecturer Track faculty position. This role serves as the Director of the Center for Emergency Programs, providing academic and administrative leadership for the University of Utah's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) education programs. The Center is dedicated to preparing high-quality emergency care professionals through EMT, Advanced EMT, and Paramedic training, as well as wilderness and technical rescue education.
The position combines program management, teaching, and community engagement to advance the Center's mission. As Director, you will oversee program operations, faculty and staff supervision, budget management, accreditation compliance, and curriculum development, while maintaining active involvement in teaching and student mentorship. You will independently address a broad range of academic, administrative, and operational challenges, developing solutions for student performance, clinical placements, and resource constraints.
This faculty position, open at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor depending on experience, is designed for a leader who can bridge the gap between clinical practice and higher education. You will provide strategic direction and day-to-day oversight of EMS education programs, ensuring they reflect current emergency care best practices. Your day-to-day work involves teaching courses in classroom and laboratory settings, developing curricula, and advising students to support their academic and professional success.
Beyond the classroom, you will establish and maintain partnerships with EMS agencies, hospitals, and public health organizations. You will coordinate clinical and field internship placements, represent the Center at professional meetings, and promote program visibility across campus and the community. The role requires fostering a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment while recruiting, hiring, and supervising instructional and administrative staff.
The position will remain open until a qualified applicant is identified, with an expected start date of July 1, 2026 (negotiable). Rank and salary are dependent upon experience and qualifications.
