The Department of Consumer and Design Sciences at Auburn University is a vibrant academic home within the College of Human Sciences. We are a R1 land-grant institution with a diverse community of 23 faculty members, serving approximately 590 undergraduates and 30 graduate students. Our department offers Bachelor of Science programs in Apparel Merchandising, Design and Production Management, Interior Design, and Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies, alongside master's and doctoral degrees in Consumer and Design Sciences.

We are seeking an innovative and dedicated scholar to join our team as an Assistant or Associate Professor on a nine-month, tenure-track basis. This role is designed for a visionary who can bridge the critical gap between apparel engineering, emerging technologies, and sustainable industry practices.
In this position, you will not only teach and conduct research but also actively shape the future of our programs. You will collaborate with colleagues to develop curricula, guide graduate student committees, and advise undergraduates. Your work will directly impact the next generation of professionals by integrating cutting-edge topics like smart textiles and sustainable manufacturing into the classroom and the lab. We are particularly eager to find a candidate who can lead in the application of emerging technologies to apparel and textile product development.
