This position serves as a critical partner to the Store Manager, sharing responsibility for the performance of all store operations and human resources. The role is designed to ensure the seamless execution of daily duties including scheduling, security, maintenance, safety, sanitation, ordering, and administration. You will act as a steward of the company's core values, demonstrating respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety in every interaction.
In this capacity, you will assist the Store Manager and associates in achieving a favorable customer shopping experience, fostering a culture where associate interest in customer service enhances the company's reputation. You will play a key role in leading teams to plan, implement, and execute merchandising and operating initiatives, while also helping to develop action plans based on Associate Insight survey results.
Your day will involve working closely with department heads and associates to identify opportunities, develop timely solutions, and ensure the implementation of strategic plans. You will be expected to role model the highest level of customer service, resolving issues for both associates and customers. In the Store Manager's absence, you will manage total store operations, ensuring continuity and compliance.
Financial stewardship is a major component of the role. You will work to achieve and exceed weekly, period, and annual sales, wage, and profit budgets, as well as targeted goals regarding safety and shrink. By analyzing the competitive landscape and utilizing field staff, you will drive sales and maximize department contributions. Additionally, you will assist in building proactive relationships with local community organizations and, where applicable, union representatives.
This role demands inclusive leadership, expecting inclusive behavior from all associates. You will serve as a liaison between the store and district managers regarding the effectiveness of divisional plans, while also providing timely performance feedback to direct reports. A significant part of your mission involves assisting with staffing, reducing turnover, and increasing retention through effective coaching and labor management.
