The Law Office of Stacy A. Scott, the 8th Circuit Public Defender, is dedicated to fulfilling the constitutional duty of providing excellent legal representation to individuals charged with criminal offenses who cannot afford private counsel. As an elected official, Stacy A. Scott leads an office that handles more than 15,000 cases annually across six counties. The team includes nearly 40 lawyers, investigators, a full-time social worker, and various legal support staff working together to serve the community.
We are seeking both entry-level and experienced attorneys to join our team as Assistant Public Defenders. In this role, you will provide highly effective and professional representation to our clients, managing a high volume of cases while maintaining meaningful communication and attention to individual needs. Your work will involve zealously advocating for clients through critical case analysis, motion practice, and jury trials. You will utilize innovative, holistic defense strategies and leverage office and community resources to achieve the best possible outcomes. Success in this position requires advising and counseling clients to navigate their legal challenges while establishing and maintaining professional relationships with both clients and the broader legal community.
